Interior DTC Kennel Layout for Social Training

Inside of each outdoor dog kennel, I have carefully laid out where I want my dog’s furniture.  Each dog is shown his personal kennel when he comes to my house for long or short-term training with me.   Each dog must learn to be social, which means follow the rules, accept the limits and respect the boundaries of mindfulness and physical space.  My pack of dogs must accept the newbie.  All newcomers regardless of age, sex or race he/she must learn to be obedient (mindfulness) and socially well-mannered.  Once they are they can participate in the structured daily routine with me and the other dogs.

Social method dog training calls for each dog to have personal space to call his own.  Must share my home, yards and community space with other dogs, cats and people.  At my house the dogs’ kennel is his bedroom.  In his bedroom I have furnished it with “furniture specific for dog”.  Social method I practice are non-discriminatory and benefit everyone involved in the training process of the selected dog. In the dog’s kennel is where I begin teaching social training exercises and obedience.

The function of the individual kennel is to isolate and confine the dog to a given space for the housing and care purposes of dog training.  All dogs require to be kennel trained regardless of what training program they have been selected. Each individual kennel is furnished with dog training tools that directly transfer to life inside of a house living alongside humans.  The only way a dog can come into my house is after he has been trained.

One of my social challenges as a professional dog trainer is transitioning your newly trained dog to you, who is an untrained dog handler with zero dog training experience.  The social transition training challenge is softened by reducing confusion for both ends of the leash.  At the time of transition, the dog knows what to do with his furniture, but you don’t.  All my clients set up their homes for the dog while the dog is staying with me at my house for training.  When you have your home trained dog ready you can immediately begin obedience and social training with your dog upon arrival for smooth transition.

All homes have a familiar layout the people understand.  I can come to your house and spend a few hours with you in your house which is furnished with furniture.  You and I likely have the same basics: tables, chairs, beds and rooms that are furnished for a specific purpose that is human social activity rich.  I am simply asking you to furnish your home with dog specific furniture that will help you live, adapt and train your dog to be your pet, working or service dog.

On the day of arrival, I begin teaching my clients dog to accept training tether and dog placement training.  This single training exercise is applied to each of the training furniture mentioned:  platform or table, stool, bed and a doghouse, water bucket, feeder.  Each dog, every day, learns to sit in their chair.  Lay on their bed and stand on their grooming table.  In return I pet, praise and acknowledge the dog while in his kennel on his furniture.   I feed them and groom them. This is the start of our dog and handler training bond that will later function at your house, my house and public places.

Inside of each kennel at my house I have platform or table, stool, bed, 2 chew proof training tethers, hitching post, a doghouse, water bucket, feeder and toilet area that resembles a large litter box for dogs.

The items shown in my kennels are made of metal so that the dog furniture is universal, easily cleaned and can prevent the dog from chewing them up.   I prefer DIY at my house.  In this blog article I have provided you with the universal and required training gear I love.  Go to the page or click the Amazon links below.
